WHO WAS ULYSSES?

Ulysses was the king of Itchaca, called Odysseus in Greek.  He was the mastermind behind the wooden horse used at the siege of Troy.  After the taking of Troy, Ulysses set out for Itchaca, which, however, he did not reach for twenty years.  During this time he experienced the travel adventures described in The Odyssey by Homer.

WHO IS ULYSSES TOURS?

Ulysses Tours and Safaris, based in Centurion (Gauteng Province), is an incoming tour operator, specializing in tailor-made itineraries of tours or safaris for up-market FITs, groups, incentives and pre- and post conference tours.  The company was established in 1996 and owns a fleet of air-conditioned microbuses, sedan cars and coaches as well as Pretoria’s famous Purple Bus – a double-decker sightseeing and party bus. 

In short, Ulysses Tours offers general transport, an airport shuttle service as well as a variety of day and overnight tours.

 Day Tours and Overnight Packages in South Africa

Apart from the private and scheduled day tours departing daily from Gauteng and Western Cape Provinces, several overnight packages are available.  These include tours and safaris of the Kruger, Pilanesberg, Mapungubwe, Madikwe and Welgevonden National Parks, trout fishing areas, the Garden Route, Cape Town and Sun City.

Vehicle Fleet & Drivers

Ulysses Tours & Safaris owns a fleet of luxury vehicles including Toyota Corollas / Versos/Avanza, Toyota Quantums, Mercedes-Benz C-class sedans, a Volvo S40, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and a Vito and the famous Purple Bus. All our vehicles are regularly serviced and meet the requirements of the Road Transportation Act. These include the necessary public transportation permits and insurance requirements.

Our drivers are trained and possess the necessary qualifications and documents i.e. a driver’s license and public drivers permit. Our guides are also registered and have an intimate knowledge of all the regions that we operate in.
