PRETORIA’S PURPLE BUSES
The streets of Pretoria are not only adorned with its famous purple Jacaranda blooms but also with two big purple buses – the Ulysses Tours & Robbert Busdiens’ Open Top Purple Buses! We acquired and transformed old city council buses into sightseeing cum Party Buses.
The buses are licensed to carry 65 passengers each. As required by law, the top deck is partially covered in the middle, but are open on the sides. A bar counter (you must supply your own drinks), radio / CD-system (MP3 with USB port) with 10 speakers and a toilet are also fitted on the buses.
The buses are available for charter for Office functions, birthday and bachelor parties, marches, weddings, sightseeing tours and for general transport to sport events, dinner evenings, etc.
HOW DOES IT WORK: WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW?
1. We basically only provide the bus with diesel and a driver. What you do on the bus, the music, refreshments and the route to be travelled is for your own arrangements. You can do on the bus what you want, provided you don’t damage the bus and don’t interfere with the bus driver.
2. A route must be supplied to us. The buses can only travel on/in highways, city centres, big routes through suburbs and approved city council routes. Not all roads are accessible for double decker buses and if trees, bridges, telephone and electricity lines aren’t especially approved on a route, the bus can’t travel on that route.
3. You can stop where you want to on the approved route. Any visits to restaurants or bars are for your own arrangements. Keep into account that the average stop at a place can take up to 30 - 45 minutes.
Should a restaurant be interested in advertising their facilities on this site, please contact our office. We only require a link between our sites.
4. No stickers may be put on the bus. Banners that are attached to the bus with ropes are allowed.
5. Measurements of the bus: Height: 4.7 m.
Length: 11 m.

HOW DO YOU BOOK A BUS?
6. Decide on a date and contact the Ulysses Tours’ office (08 22 33 33 20) to find out if a bus is available on that date. We do not take tentative reservations – first come first served.
7. Then complete the form as below and fax it to our office at 012 653 4609 together with a 50% deposit of the total cost. This deposit is non-refundable. Should you want to cancel or move the date, a new booking and deposit will have to be made.

8. The balance is due 3 weeks before the planned trip.
9. Please insist on a booking number from the Ulysses Tours office.
10. A R2000 breakage / “extra time” deposit is also payable. This is refundable after the trip (within a maximum of 2 weeks), should there be no damage to the bus and if we dropped you on the booked time.
Why? People do strange things on our bus when alcohol is involved and people enjoy the trip so much sometimes that they stay longer on the bus than planned.
PRETORIA’S PURPLE BUS: BOOKING FORM
1. All passengers enter the Purple Bus entirely so at their own risk.
2. Passengers are not allowed to stand upright on the top deck of the bus, whilst the bus is moving. You are not allowed to sit on the side rails or on the roof of the bus - THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!
3. Standing on any seat is strictly prohibited.
4. Children under 10 years are not allowed on the top deck of the bus, without adult supervision.
5. Ulysses Tours & Safaris cc carries passenger liability, but we strongly advise tourists/passengers to take out adequate travel insurance to cover personal accidents, medical expenses and loss of belongings.
6. While Ulysses Tours & Safaris cc, their employees, and/or agents will take every care against such contingencies, they cannot be held responsible for, and shall be exempt from any liability for any loss, damage or injury to any person and/or his/her luggage or personal belongings.
7. We do not do refund clients should it start raining during your excursion.
8. In the unfortunate situation of a breakdown we will refund clients (or offer a free of charge postponement), should such breakdown occur in the first half of the excursion. Should the breakdown occur in the second half of your excursion, alternative transport will be provided but no refund will be given.
9. The driver has instructions to return on the mutually agreed time and will unfortunately not be able to wait for passengers not pitching after visits to sites.
10. No items may be thrown from the bus. Should this happen, the driver will warn the group once. Should it happen again, the driver will return to the drop-off point without any refund given.
11. Any damage to the bus for the amount of more than R2000, will be for the account of the undersigned.
12. Under no circumstances may anybody interfere with the driver of the bus. The driver has instruction to return to the drop-off point should he be interfered with or verbally abused.
13. Please ensure that all personal items are removed from the bus after the excursion. We do not accept any responsibility for any items left behind.

PRETORIA SE PERS BUSSE
Pretoria se strate is nie net pers van die Jakaranda blomme nie, maar ook van twee groot pers busse – Ulysses Tours & Robbert Busdiens se dubbelverdieping Pers Busse.
Ons het ou stadsraadbusse omskep in partytjie en besigtigingsbusse. Die busse is gelisensieër om ‘n maksimum van 65 passasiers elk te vervoer. Soos vereis deur wetgewing, is die boonste verdieping gedeeltelik onder dak, maar die kante is oop. Die busse is toegerus met ‘n kroegtoonbank (eie drank moet voorsien word), radio / CD-stelsel (MP3 met "USB-port") met 10 luidsprekers oor die bus en ‘n toilet.
Die busse kan gehuur word vir kantoorfunksies, optogte, verjaarsdae, ram- en henpartytjies, troues en vir algemene vervoer na sport byeenkomste en vertonings…basies vir enige iets.
HOE WERK DIE BUSSE; WAT MOET JY WEET?
1. Ons verskaf basies die bus vol diesel met ‘n bestuurder. Wat julle op die bus doen, die musiek, verversings en die roete is vir eie reëling. Julle kan dus doen wat julle wil op die bus, so lank daar geen skade aan die bus gedoen word nie, en so lank die bestuurder nie gepla word nie.
2. ‘n Roete moet aan ons voorsien word – Die busse kan slegs op hoofweë, middestede, groot roetes deur woonbuurte en op goedgekeurde stadsraadroetes ry. Nie alle paaie is toeganklik vir dubbelverdieping busse nie en as die bome, brûe, telefoon en kragdrade nie spesiaal aangepas is op ‘n roete nie, kan die bus nie daar ry nie.
3. Julle kan stop net waar julle wil op die goedgekeurde roete. Enige reëlings met restaurante of kroeë moet self deur julle getref word. Hou in gedagte dat ‘n gemiddelde stop by ‘n kroeg ongeveer 30 - 45 minute duur.
Indien ‘n restaurant hulle fasiliteite wil beskikbaar stel op hierdie bladsy, kontak asseblief ons kantoor; al wat ons vereis is ‘n skakel tussen ons webbladsye.
4. Geen plakkers mag op die bus aangebring word nie. Baniere wat met toue aan die pale vasgemaak word, word wel toegelaat.
5. Afmetings van die Bus: Hoogte: 4.7 m.
Lengte: 11 m.
Breedte: 2.7 m.
HOE BESPREEK JY DIE BUS?
6. Kry ‘n geskikte datum en bel Ulysses Tours se kantoor (08 22 33 33 20) om te hoor op die bus op die datum beskikbaar is. Ons neem nie voorlopige besprekings nie – wie ook al eerste betaal vir ‘n datum bespreek die bus vir daardie datum.
7. Voltooi dan die onderste vorm en faks dit deur na ons kantoor (012 653 4609), tesame met ‘n 50% deposito van die totale koste. Hierdie deposito is nie terugbetaalbaar nie. Sou julle die uitstappie wil kanselleer of die datum skuif, moet ‘n nuwe bespreking met ‘n nuwe deposito gemaak word.

8. Die balans is betaalbaar 3 weke voor die beplande uitstappie.
9. Maak asseblief seker dat ‘n besprekingsnommer van die Ulysses Tours kantoor verkry word.
10. ‘n R2000 skade / “ekstra tyd” deposito is ook betaalbaar, wat weer terugbetaalbaar is na afloop van die uitstappie (binne a maksimum van 2 weke) sou daar geen skade wees nie, en as daar op die bespreekte tyd afgelaai is.
Hoekom? Mense doen snaakse goed as hulle op hierdie bus ry en daar alkohol betrokke is of mense geniet dit so op ons bus dat hulle langer as beplan met die bus wil ry.
PRETORIA SE PERS BUSSE: BESPREKINGSVORM
1. Alle passasiers gebruik die Pers Bus geheel en al op eie risiko.
2. Passasiers word nie toegelaat om regop op die boonste verdieping van die bus te staan terwyl die bus beweeg nie. Geen passasier mag op die kante of op die dak van die bus sit nie - Dit is UITERS GEVAARLIK!
3. Daar mag onder geen omstandighede op enige sitplek gestaan word nie.
4. Kinders onder 10 word slegs toegelaat op die boonste verdieping met die nodige volwasse toesig.
5. Daar is die nodige passasiersdekking op die bus uitgeneem, maar ons beveel aan dat passasiers persoonlike versekering uitneem vir moontlike beserings en mediese uitgawes. Alhoewel ons die nodige voorsorg tref kan ons nie verantwoordelik gehou word, en word hiermee vrygestel van enige eise rakende die verlies, skade en/of besering aan enige persoon en hy/sy se persoonlike besittings.
6. Ons doen geen terugbetaling in die geval waar dit begin reën tydens ‘n uitstappie nie.
7. In die ongelukkige geval waar die bus dalk mag breek, gee ons ‘n 100% terugbetaling (of uitstel van die uitstappie) indien dit in die eerste helfte van die uitstappie gebeur. Sou dit in die tweede helfte gebeur, sal ons alternatiewe vervoer verskaf, maar geen terugbetaling word gedoen nie.
8. Die bestuurder het opdrag om op die afgespreekte tyd by die aflaaipunt af te laai.
9. Geen items mag van die bus gegooi word nie. Sou dit wel gebeur, sal die bestuurder een waarskuwing gee. Sou dit weer gebeur sal die bestuurder na die aflaaipunt beweeg en geen terugbetaling sal gedoen word nie.
10. Enige skade aan die bus sal van die deposito verhaal word. Enige skade wat meer as R2000 beloop sal vir die rekening van die ondergetekende wees.
11. Daar mag onder geen omstandighede met die bestuurder bemoei word nie. Die bestuurder het opdrag om na die aflaaipunt te beweeg sou hy herhaaldelik gepla word of verbaal aangeval word.
12. Daar moet seker gemaak word dat alle persoonlike items van die bus verwyder word na afloop van die uitstappie. Ons neem geen verantwoordelikheid van enige itmes wat op die bus agterbly nie.
